The men were arraigned on four counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, unlawful assembly and culpable homicide, contrary to sections 100, 342, 97 and 221 of the Penal Code, Cap. 3, Law of Jigawa State, 2014.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defendants testified in their own defence and called two other witnesses.

Delivering the judgment on Friday, Justice Abubakar convicted and sentenced all the defendants to two-year imprisonment or a fine of N10,000 for unlawful assembly.

For criminal conspiracy, the judge convicted and sentenced all the defendants to three-month imprisonment or a fine of N1,000.

He sentenced them to death by hanging for culpable homicide.
